Venue: University SSST Conference Center

This is the first time we are organizing the Data Science conference within the Mediterranean Forum, but we intend that this becomes an annual conference. With the aim to support the development of data science tools and applications in the region, we want to provide an international forum in which data science academics and practitioners can communicate their findings and ideas.

While we encourage submissions of fundamental research in data science (within the Research Track), we are also welcoming papers that apply data science in various technical and non-technical fields (within the Application Track).

The works can be submitted in the following format:
Original research paper (12-15+ pages of around 400 words each)

The conference expects submissions in the wide range of Data Science foundations and its applications.

The Research Track expects submissions of the most recent, unique and noteworthy research in Data Science foundations. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Data science foundations
  • Machine/deep learning
  • Data science statistics and mathematics
  • Data quality
  • Algorithms, models, and methods
  • Optimization, inference, and regularization
  • Data science infrastructures
  • Evaluation, explanation, visualization, and presentation
  • Survey and review

The Application Tracks expects submissions of the most recent, unique and noteworthy research in Data Science applications in various domains. Those include but are not limited to social sciences, physical sciences, medicine and health care, business, content recommendation, gaming …

Submissions should address a real problem whose results are useful for end-users and practitioners. Topics of interest include but are not limited to (especially emphasizing the needs, opportunities and trends in the Mediterranean countries):

  • Domain-driven data science and analytics practice
  • Case studies
  • Infrastructures, platforms and tools
  • Deployment, management and decision-making
  • Social and economic impact modeling
  • Ethics, social issues, privacy, trust, and bias
  • Survey and review of local and regional trends

Papers will be peer-reviewed by at least three experts in the field and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit, application results and relevance to the conference. We are in the application process to publish the conference proceedings with Springer as this will ensure proper paper indexing.
